AC Gearmotor 120 VAC Gear Motor Synchronous Reversible This gearmotor runs directly from 120 VAC, so no DC power source is needed. It is a new, never been used motor that is old stock. This heavy-duty gear motor was built in the US by Hurst Manufacturing of Princeton, Indiana. It was made for use in a piece of high-end medical equipment, so it is of very high quality construction. This motor is a synchronous AC motor, which means that it will run at the same exact speed regardless of how it is loaded or if the AC line voltage varies (within the load torque capabilities of the motor). This motor requires a film capacitor of approximately 0.22 uFd to run. WE WILL PROVIDE THIS NEEDED CAPACITOR FOR FREE WITH THE PURCHASE OF THE MOTOR. One unique feature of this motor is that it is reversible; most single-phase AC motors are not. The direction depends upon the connection of the four lead wires. All that is required to make the motor reversible is a single-pole double-throw switch. These are readily available from Radio Shack, Digikey, and many other vendors. Note that if the motor will run in one direction only in your application, no switch is needed. WE WILL PROVIDE INFORMATION ON HOW TO CORRECTLY CONNECT THE MOTOR, INCLUDING FOR REVERSIBLE OPERATION. This motor is heavy duty and designed for years of maintenance-free operation. The output shaft sits in two heavy bronze bearings. The gearbox is in a heavy stamped metal housing with internal lubrication sealed in by a gasket. The gearbox includes two locations for mounting screws. The speed of the motor is 4 rpm (revolutions per minute). It is rated at 3 watts. The output shaft is 0.1875†(3/16â€) in diameter, with a flat on one side to ensure no slip when running high-torque loads.
